Oath Taking Ceremony with MSU-IIT Chancellor Dr. Sukarno D. Tanggol |
~full speech~
To our ever dynamic Chancellor, Dr. Tanggol, the DSA Director, Dr. Banawa, CASS Dean Dr. Banawa, presidents of the different organizations, my parents and friends, the outgoing and new set of officers of the Kataastaasang Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral, good morning and Assalamo Alaykom Warakhmatullahi taala Wabarakatoh!
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who are here with us today for gracing this event especially to Dr. Tanggol and the administration officials who gave time despite their busy schedules. Your presence is surely an affirmation to the great things that we will achieve together for the upcoming academic year. Many things may stand in our way but we should always remember that our ultimate goal is to provide service and proper representation to the studentry.
Being part of the new set of officers as the new president of the KASAMA in this period of time only means that despite the diversity in this Institute, the students indeed voted for leaders who are capable of the job that lies ahead. I know that difficult times may come in our way sooner but let us never forget the essence of true governance. True governance may only work so great when the leaders are united and are willing to set aside personal differences, all in the name of achieving the ultimate goal, which in our case are genuine leadership and efficient governance.
There are so much I wanna share today but I will let things unfold between all of us in our one year journey for the students. We must help each other, take care of each other and support one another. Let us always take into our minds that divisiveness has ultimately no room for this year.
To the outgoing officers who have been part of my journey, it was a great year indeed. Great year for sacrifices to reap victorious feats. Let me quote Senator Honey Baroman, "We were battered but never defeated." It was a challenging year ahead but despite the troubles, most of us still worked together. And never shall I allow deprivation again, for what is right should be kept right and what is wrong should be set right.
To the members of the Institute Legislative Body, my salute and gratitude to all of you! This part has come to an end but the experiences was more than rewarding. Thank you for standing by my leadership in the Senate and for never doubting.
To the outgoing college governors, thank you for your patience and still for endowing your trust on KASAMA despite whatever happened in the previous administration. Your continued support was a great help in letting the administration stand firmly still.
To the outgoing Cabinet, my gratitude for the services you've rendered. It was indeed a memorable partnership between us.
To the incoming officers, never shall we give up. We must fight harder, strive harder and work harder. There are no impossible things for a great and able person. And we shall achieve greater things this year.
And lastly to the Almighty Allah for giving me everything what I need in this journey of mine. A loving and supporting parents and family, competent workmates and a community which exists in unity amidst diversity.
This is Datu Esma Mikee P. Maruhom, the outgoing Senate President and your new President, always at your service. Wassalam!
